22 | Understanding and Overcoming Self-Sabotage with Tabitha Azor
Friday May 19, 2023
Friday May 19, 2023
Welcome to today's episode where we will be discussing the topic of self-sabotage. Self-sabotage is a common behavior that can hold us back from achieving our goals and living our best lives.
Self-sabotage is any behavior or thought pattern that undermines our own success and well-being. It can manifest in many ways such as procrastination, self-doubt, negative self-talk, and self-destructive behaviors. Self-sabotage can be conscious or unconscious but always leads to negative consequences.
Self-sabotage can stem from a variety of reasons such as fear of failure, fear of success, low self-esteem, and past traumas. It can also be a way of protecting ourselves from disappointment or rejection. However, self-sabotage ultimately prevents us from reaching our full potential and living a fulfilling life.
The first step in overcoming self-sabotage is to recognize it. Pay attention to your thoughts and behaviors and identify any patterns that may be holding you back. Once you have identified your self-sabotaging behaviors, you can challenge them.
During this conversation, Tabitha and I will explore what self-sabotage is, why we do it, and how we can overcome it.
Tabitha Azor is a Brooklyn-based licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She is a Christ-following Haitian-American and mother of 2. Her heart for the hurting has allowed her to pursue a degree in Marriage and Family therapy. Her passions are to help women feel empowered and confident, increase their self-love, believe they deserve healthy relationships, and help couples transform their marriages to live healthier lives and build stronger families.
Tabitha started NYC Healing Center to create healing spaces for people to transform their lives. In her spare time, Tabitha loves to create, dance, sew, and do arts and crafts.
In this episode Tabitha shares:
- The definition of self-sabotage and its characteristics
- Potential roots in which self-sabotage stems from and how to create better self-awareness when it’s happening
- How to overcome self-sabotaging behaviors in order to reach success
- The importance and benefits of working with a therapist
